Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to the SPARC topical workshop

 "Atomic Physics in Strong Fields"

to be held from September 6 – 11, 2005, organized as a satellite meeting of the XXIX Mazurian Lakes Conference of Physics (http://zfjavs.fuw.edu.pl/mazurian/mazurian.html).

The workshop will focus on the following topics of the SPARC project:

  • Tests of Bound State QED
  •  Ions in Strong Laser-Fields
  • Dynamics in Atomic Collisions
  • Technical Development of Experimental Tools

Silver (Harvard-Smithsonian), V. Yerokhin (St. Petersburg)

The aim of the Workshop is to:

  • discuss the physics and goals of selected SPARC projects
  • inform you about the present status of the GSI future facility FAIR
  • inform you about the current developments and the status of the various SPARC working groups
  • look over the financial resources and funding issues of SPARC

If you have any additional suggestions to be discussed during the meeting, please let us know.

The workshop will offer the opportunity to present and discuss future plans and ideas.
